OVERVIEW
Building on existing open platforms, the new technology promotes team work, collaboration between classes in the same school or even remote collaboration between schools in different countries in a learner-centred approach. Using 3D presentations and user-friendly interaction techniques leads to better understanding of scientific and cultural content coupled with high student motivation.
The project aims at integrating an AR teaching platform into the everyday environment of teachers and students, displaying audiovisual and multi-media content in line with the needs identified by education experts and researchers in the relevant areas. A major part of the project work is dedicated to the development of tools necessary for the easy production of content by non-AR-experts, to facilitate deployment in different countries of Europe at a moderate effort. Market analysis and suggested product development activities will be elaborated within the project.
At the same time, ARiSE draws benefits of an enlarged Europe, as the majority of the consortium members are chosen from relevant organizations in the new member states. The platform and example scenarios are implemented independently of the countries involved. Two representative schools from two different countries in Europe (Lithuania and Germany) are partners in the consortium and test the platform in realistic pedagogical scenarios. Research results will be validated using sound research methodologies from all addressed research areas. Other schools are also involved in the testing but are not formal partners in the project.
Summer schools provide intensive testing scenarios with students from schools not involved in the project. Furthermore, school classes will be invited to visit the participating research facilities and participate in single day events. The consortium partners thereby profit from (but don?t dependent on) good contacts to schools as results of previous successful projects.
